Jeremiah 32:5
And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I visit him, saith the LORD: though ye fight with the Chaldeans, ye shall not prosper.
Jeremiah 32:5 · King James Version
Meaning
In this verse, God is delivering a message to Zedekiah, a king of Judah. The verse predicts that Zedekiah will be led to Babylon and will remain there until the time of God's visitation. This visitation refers to God's judgment upon Zedekiah for his disobedience and betrayal. Despite the warnings given by the prophet Jeremiah, Zedekiah and the people of Judah chose to fight against the Chaldeans (Babylonians) rather than heed God's warnings. However, God declares that their efforts will not prosper, indicating that they will not be successful in their rebellion against the Chaldeans. This verse serves as a reminder of the consequences of disobeying God's commands and the futility of going against His will. It emphasizes the importance of obedience and submission to God's authority, as well as the inevitability of facing the consequences of our actions.
