Effective date: June 11, 2026

This policy explains what information Devout collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Devout is operated by Holiander, Inc. (“Devout”, “we”, “us”). By using Devout you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to provide the service:

  • Account information — your name and email address, and a securely hashed password.
  • Faith preferences — the tradition and preferences you choose during onboarding, which we use to shape the devotional content you see.
  • Your content — the journal entries, prayers, and verse notes you create. Journal entries are encrypted in our database.
  • Payment information — handled by our payment processor. We do not store your full card details; we keep only your subscription status and limited billing metadata.
  • Usage information — basic, privacy-respecting analytics about how the service is used, to help us improve it. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

How we use your information

  • To provide, maintain, and personalize the devotional experience.
  • To process subscriptions and payments.
  • To send you the emails you have opted into, and essential account and transactional messages.
  • To respond to your requests and support questions.
  • To keep the service secure and to improve it over time.

AI-generated content

Some features use a third-party AI provider to generate personalized reflections. Where a feature processes your input to do this, only the information necessary for that feature is shared with the provider, and it is not used to train AI models.

Service providers

We share information with a small number of trusted providers solely so they can perform services for us — payment processing, email delivery, AI-generated content, and hosting. These providers may process your information only on our instructions. We do not sell your personal information, and we never sell or share your journal entries or prayers.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal information and your content, except where we are required to retain limited records (for example, for tax or legal compliance).

Your rights

You can access and update your information from within your account. Devout also lets you export your data at any time. You may delete your account, which removes your content and personal information as described above. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your data; contact us to exercise them.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the service. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising.

Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit and at rest for sensitive content, and with industry-standard safeguards. No system is perfectly secure, but we take the privacy of a devotional life seriously.

Children

Devout is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
