Numbers 31:47 · King James Version
Meaning
Within this verse, Moses is dividing the spoils of war between the children of Israel and the Levites, who were responsible for caring for the tabernacle of the Lord. The Levites were a tribe set apart for the service of the Lord, and their duties included maintaining the sacred tent where God's presence dwelled among the people. By giving a portion of the spoils to the Levites, Moses is following the command of the Lord to provide for those who serve in His sanctuary. This act reinforces the importance of supporting those who are dedicated to the worship and service of God. It also serves as a reminder to the children of Israel that they are called to honor and care for those who are set apart for sacred duties.
