Spurgeon's Daily Meditations
All things work together for good
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
Not some things — all things. Not the pleasant things only — but the bitter, the dark, the unwelcome things too. Pain works good; loss works good; the disappointment, the failure, the long-delayed answer — all of it works together for good to those that love God.
Mark the word 'work together.' One ingredient is bitter, another sour, another wholesome; alone, some would be poison. But together, mixed by the Physician's hand, they make the medicine that heals.
We know it — not guess, not hope, but know. By what authority? By the Word that cannot lie. By the experience of saints in every age. By the love of God which has not deserted us yet. Whatever today brings, it is working — together with every other day — for thy good. Trust the chemistry of providence; the Master Worker has the recipe.
