Spurgeon's Daily Meditations
Behold the Lamb of God
“Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”
Behold him, then. Look not within for comfort, but without. Behold him — not the Lamb as he was when he died, but the Lamb as he is now, before the throne, with the marks of his passion still upon him. He is the Lamb of God: a Lamb appointed by God, brought of God, accepted of God. He is not the offering of man; God himself has provided the sacrifice.
And what does this Lamb do? He taketh away the sin of the world. Not he will, but he doeth so. He has done it, and he does it still. Take heart, then, you that are heavy laden with sin. Christ's work is not partial — he taketh away. Not weighs against it, not balances it with merit — but takes it away. Where then is the man's sin who has come to Christ? It is gone, drowned in the depths of the sea.
