Spurgeon's Daily Meditations
Fear not
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
Five times in this one verse the Lord assures his servant. 'I am with thee' — that is presence. 'I am thy God' — that is covenant. 'I will strengthen thee' — that is power. 'I will help thee' — that is grace. 'I will uphold thee' — that is preservation.
What then has the Christian to fear? The world is loud, but God is with thee. The enemy is many, but God is thy God. The way is long, but he will strengthen. The work is great, but he will help. The pit is deep, but he will uphold thee — and with what hand? The right hand of his righteousness — the strongest hand, the hand of justice and faithfulness joined.
Fear not. Take the word as a charter and hold it fast. The God who promised has never failed; the God who said 'Fear not' is the same God yesterday, today, and for ever.
