The blood of Jesus Christ

“The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

— 1 John 1:7

All sin! What a word is that! What sin can it be that this blood cannot cleanse? Original sin, actual sin, sin of yesterday, sin of this morning, sin of the next half-hour — all sin. Sins of thought, sins of word, sins of deed; sins against God, against man, against ourselves; sins known and remembered, sins forgotten and unknown — all sin.

There is the breadth of the river: it is broader than all our sin. There is no transgression too dark for it, no iniquity too deep, no offence too inveterate. The blood of Christ has cleansed black souls perfectly white before the throne of God; and it will cleanse thine.

Note, too: it cleanseth — not did, but doth. The fountain is open still. Wash thee in it now.
