Much Fruit

“Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.”

— John 15:8

It is fruit, more fruit, and much fruit. The Father is not content with a sparse harvest from his branches. He has poured all the sap of the Vine into them — he expects a yield to match.

Let no Christian be satisfied with a quiet, fruitless life. The branch was made for bearing. The Father is glorified by abundance, not by survival. And the means is what it has always been: abide in the Vine. The fruit is not produced by the branch; the fruit is borne. The branch does not strain; the Vine pours its life through.

If your fruit is small, do not run about looking for better methods. Go back to the Vine. Stay there longer. Trust him for what only he can give. The much fruit will come — slowly, perhaps, but surely — because the Vine cannot deny its branches.
