Andrew Murray's Daily Meditations
Yield Yourselves Unto God
“Yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.”
There are two great acts in the Christian life. The first is to receive Christ. The second, which must be repeated daily, is to yield yourself to him.
Receiving is the beginning. But many Christians live for years on the strength of that one transaction, and wonder why their life is so weak. They have received him; they have not yielded to him. They have opened the door; they have not given him the keys to the house.
Yield, then. Yield your members — your hands, your tongue, your eyes, your money, your hours. Yield not as the conquered yields to the conqueror, in fear and bitterness, but as a son yields his life to a father who has loved him before he was born. The yielding is itself a gift; the very desire to yield comes from him. Say it morning by morning: I am thine, O Lord. Take me. Use me. Have me.
