Andrew Murray's Daily Meditations
Ask, and It Shall Be Given
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”
Three commands, three promises. They do not depend upon the worthiness of the asker, but on the goodness of the Giver. He is a Father who delights to give. He has never refused a child that came earnestly.
Why then do we receive so little? Because we ask so little, and ask so faintly. We bring small petitions to a great King, and we bring them with a half-heart that already concludes nothing will come of it.
Ask boldly today. Bring your great need — the household, the wandering child, the besetting sin — and lay it down. Do not stop at one asking; seek, and if seeking does not find it at once, knock. The promise is certain. The asker, the seeker, the knocker is never sent away empty.
