Newness of Life
“Like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”
Many Christians live as if the resurrection were a doctrine to be believed but not a power to be felt. They confess that Christ rose; they do not know him as the risen one within them.
But see what Paul says: even so we also should walk. The same power that lifted Christ from the grave is the power by which we walk through this day. Not a recollected power; a present one.
The sin that you fear cannot stand against the risen Christ. The discouragement that has wrapped itself around you cannot survive in his presence. The doubt, the coldness, the deadness you complain of — all of it must give way to him who is alive forevermore. Reckon yourself to be alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Walk in newness of life today — not because you feel new, but because he is risen, and he is yours.
