Andrew Murray's Daily Meditations
The Same, Yesterday and Today
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
What he was, he is. What he did, he does. The Christ who walked the dusty roads of Galilee, who took up little children in his arms, who wept at the grave of Lazarus, who forgave the woman at his feet — that very Christ is the Christ of this morning, and of every morning until he comes.
We do not have a Saviour locked into history. We do not have a memory; we have a Person. The hand that healed the leper is the hand stretched out to you now. The voice that called Lazarus from the tomb is the voice that calls your dead heart to life.
Trust him, then, not as a figure from the past but as the living one. Let his unchangingness be the rock under your changeable life. He has not grown weaker, nor more distant, nor more impatient with you. He is the same.
