Ezekiel 16:39
And I will also give thee into their hand, and they shall throw down thine eminent place, and shall break down thy high places: they shall strip thee also of thy clothes, and shall take thy fair jewels, and leave thee naked and bare.
Ezekiel 16:39 · King James Version
Meaning
This verse is a warning from God to a nation or individual who has strayed from His ways. The "eminent place" and "high places" mentioned in the verse symbolize the pride and arrogance that often accompany disobedience to God. By allowing the enemy to "throw down" and "break down" these symbolic structures, God is demonstrating the consequences of turning away from Him. The act of stripping the individual of their clothes and fair jewels represents the loss of status, wealth, and worldly possessions that come with facing the wrath of God. Ultimately, being left "naked and bare" is a metaphor for being vulnerable and defenseless in the face of divine judgment.
